One of the most popular costumes in the Star Trek universe is the James T. Kirk Star Trek costume. In the fictional universe of Star Trek, Kirk was a part of Starfleet…a humanitarian and peacekeeping armada of spacecraft, that provides defense, research, diplomacy, and exploration to the United Federation of Planets (UFP). Set in the 23rd century, the original Star Trek follows the adventures of the starship Enterprise and its crew, led by Captain James T. Kirk, his First Officer Mr. Spock, and his Chief Medical Officer Leonard McCoy.

In 2009, the Star Trek franchise was rebooted with an alternate timeline for the main characters of the original series. While the Star Trek costume for Kirk remained essentially the same in style, the color of the costume was slightly altered.
